kubSSH - PuTTY and WinSCP launcher
What is kubSSH?
kubSSH is a small open source program that enables even faster and more convenient access to remote systems when using programs PuTTY and WinSCP. It puts an icon in the system tray which, when clicked on, opens a popup menu with the list of your saved sessions in those two programs.
Which sessions are displayed?
All saved sessions from programs PuTTY and WinSCP are displayed. Terminal sessions from PuTTY have a colored terminal window icon next to their name and WinSCP sessions have a colored folder. If a session with the same name exists in both programs, only one menu item is created with both icons colored.
Opening/editing sessions
A session can be opened by clicking on the terminal window or the folder icon next to the session’s name. Editing of sessions is not done through kubSSH because user might want to configure different connection parameters for each of the two programs.
As few clicks/keypresses as possible
A session can be opened with a total of TWO clicks at any time. You can further eliminate the need to enter your username by setting an auto-login username in PuTTY and WinSCP. Public/private key authentication can also be used, so you don’t even have to type in your password.
Configuration
In order for kubSSH to work, you only need to supply it the path to your PuTTY or WinSCP executable file. You can do this and a few other nice things from the configuration dialog which can be reached by right-clicking on the tray icon and selecting the “Configuration” option.
